Patrick G. Ryan

Pat G. Ryan was chosen as the leader of the Olympic bid by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley because of his leadership in Chicago’s business, civic and sport communities.
Ryan is also executive chairman and founder of Aon Corporation, a global leader in risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, human capital consulting and outsourcing. He started as an entrepreneur and founded an insurance agency, which grew to become Aon. He has been chairman of Aon’s board of directors since 1990. He served as chief executive of Aon and its predecessor company from 1964 to April 2005.

 

 

 

 

  

Janusz Tatera

Poland's Olympic Attaché Counselor in Beijing

Janusz Tatera is the head of the Consular Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. He has served as Secretary-General of the Polish Olympic Committee for eight years. He had been involved in organizing seven Olympics, including the Atlanta and Athens Summer Games and the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City of the United States.

 

 

 

 

Edward Korfanty

Head Coach of U.S. Women Fencing

Edward Korfanty led Mariel Zagunis to win the first U.S. gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. Sada Jacobson took the silver and Becca Ward took the bronze. Korfanty was a member of the Polish national fencing team from 1972 to 1984. During his eight years on the Polish national team, he won numerous national and international medals and was a finalist at numerous World Cup and international competitions. He took second place individual three times in the Polish national championships and was team captain of the winning team four times.

 


Piotr Nowak

Assistant to Head Coach of U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team

Piotr Nowak moved to the United States in 1998 to play in Major League Soccer for the Chicago Fire. In their inaugural season, Nowak led the Fire to a victory in the MLS Cup, and was soon recognized as one of the best players in the league. He also led the Fire to two US Open Cup victories, playing 114 league games for the team, registering 26 goals and 48 assists. Nowak was appointed as head coach of D.C. United starting in the 2004 season. He quickly pulled the team together and led D.C. to their fourth MLS Cup.

 


Janusz Peciak

Head Coach of U.S. Modern Pentathlon

Janusz Peciak is a Head Coach - U.S. Modern Pentathlon for 20 years. He is an Olympic Gold Medalist in Pentathlon from Montreal in 1976. He is an 8 Time Pentathlon World Champion. Peciak was a Head Olympic Coach in1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 as wells as a Head Coach in Pan American Games Pentathlon in 2003. He serves as a Vice President of US Modern Pentathlon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Emma Hayes

Head Coach and Director of Chicago Red Stars

Emma Hayes comes to Chicago Red Stars by way of the famed Arsenal Football Club in London. She is an English association soccer coach. Since 2006, Hayes has served as first team assistant coach and academy director at the FA’s Women’s Premier League’s top-ranked Arsenal Ladies Football Club in London, England.  Hayes helped guide the Lady Gunners to an undefeated League record and won every competition England has to offer.  Previously, she spent six years coaching in the United States, from the grass roots level all the way through the W-league and Division 1 college level.
